Dear Parents & Guardians,
As I’m sure many of you have now heard, Governor Baker announced today that schools in Massachusetts will be closed for the remainder of the year. The announcement, while difficult to hear, was not entirely surprising given the rise of people testing positive for COVID-19 in our state. Though these long days away from our students, fellow colleagues and community have been excruciating, the Governor went on to state that “there was no authoritative guidance on how to operate schools safely...to get students to and from schools safely at this time.” The Governor also touched upon data which he said, “shows we’re still very much in the grips of a pandemic here in Massachusetts.”
In response to this announcement we will await further guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Commissioner Jeff Riley around summer school, grants, academic resources, and other related school topics. I will be sure to communicate these updates to you all as soon as they become available.
For now, we as a learning community will do what we always do...we will continue to care for our families, we will serve breakfasts and lunches for those in need, we will provide structure and academic opportunities for our students through remote learning and we will take care of one another. Thank you as always for your continued support through this challenging time. More to come soon...stay tuned!
