Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with great joy that I am able to share Phase 2 of our full return to school planning. Since the posting of our Phase 1 plan on February 12, 2021, school officials and administration have been busy behind the scenes, measuring space, adding lunch times, acquiring more desks, adding new staff and meeting with our local board of health, school committee and union leadership to ensure safe and responsible planning around full return at certain grade levels. Our kindergarten students returned March 8th and our first graders are set to return on March 15th. Phase 2 involves a staggered return of grades 2-5. We anticipate the full return for grades 2 and 3 on March 22nd and the full return of grades 4 and 5 on March 29th. At this time all plans (K-5) involve full days for students at these grade levels on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday. The district will still be utilizing the Wednesday remote ½ day plan until April 5th to assist with further planning and professional development. Many folks have inquired about busing and have asked if we plan to change the rider eligibility criteria back to how it was prior to our making the fall changes (1 mile +). We very much hope to be able to do this in order to accommodate more riders, but we also want to assess actual capacity trends once full return begins. I hope to make an announcement around any revised riding eligibility in a few weeks.
If your child is in grades K-5, you will be receiving additional and specific information around the full return for your child(ren) from Principal Stevens very soon. As always, we thank everyone for their patience and support as we safely plan and implement plans for increased in-person learning in the Holbrook Public Schools.
